High DC-input voltage and wide DC-input ranges
The HVT 350-F7 series of rugged of DC-DC converters are designed for heavy-duty industrial applications that require an ultra-high DC-input voltage and wide DC-input ranges. The converters accept a nominal input voltage of 1100Vdc and offer a wide operating input voltage range of 900Vdc to 1300Vdc, with 1400Vdc peak voltage. The 350W units deliver a single output of 24Vdc, 36Vdc, 48Vdc, 110Vdc, 125Vdc or custom.
An optional built-in redundancy diode allows for a number of units to be connected in parallel to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy. The output separation diode also makes the units suitable for battery charging applications. An output-fail alarm (Form C) and remote shutdown or enable are available on request.
To ensure high reliability and long operating life, all critical components on the primary side are designed and tested for corona inception levels that are significantly higher than the operating voltages. The design is verified for 5600Vdc input to output isolation and production level testing is 4300Vdc input to output. Other electronic protection includes inrush current limiting, reverse polarity protection, output current limiting, short-circuit protection and self-resetting thermal shut-down in the case of insufficient airflow. Low component count, large design headroom, and the exclusive use of components with established reliability also contribute to ensuring that the unit delivers many years of problem free operation.
The input and output are filtered for low noise. The input meets EN55032 Class A with wide margins. Class B is available on request. This ensures that the unit can be used in EMI sensitive environments without additional filtering. The converters comply with the requirements of EN/IEC 61010-1 and related standards.
The HVT 350-F7 converters are cooled by conduction via baseplate. Additional cooling is achieved by natural convection through the cooling slots. All heat generating components are installed on aluminum heatsink blocks which are thermally connected to the base plate. This enables operation over a 0°C to +50°C temperature range without the need for derating. Wider temperature ranges are available on request. Efficiency is a minimum of 80% at full load depending on input/output configuration.
The compact units measure 254 x 66 x 361mm (W x H x D). They are ruggedized to ensure immunity to shock and vibration (IEC 61373 Cat 1 A&B), which makes them suitable for operation in extreme environments. The internal boards are conformal coated for protection from moisture, humidity and airborne contaminants.
