Universal input, long-life, wide temperature range AC-DC power supplies with active PFC-input

High reliability and an operating life of 20 to 30 years

120W, PHR 120-F1 high reliability power supply with universal PFC-input

PHR 120-F1 long-life power supply with universal PFC-input and wide operating temperature range

The PHR series of industrial quality AC-DC power supplies with active PFC-input are designed and built for an operating life of up to 30 years.

The design eliminates the conventional optocoupler feedback loop and reduces component count, thereby increasing the MTBF of the unit over conventional designs. The unit generates feedback voltage from the primary side of the transformer by considering the parameters of the transformer and the output rectifier diode.

Large design headroom, full electronic protection, 5000Vdc input to output isolation and heavy ruggedizing also contribute to the long operating life of the units. Internal printed circuits are conformal coated, providing immunity to the effects of moisture.

High operating temperatures at full specification (no derating)

Eliminating the optocoupler allows for operation in high temperature environments. All power supplies in the series operate at full specification over a -20°C to +70°C temperature range with conduction and convection cooling.

Applications

We typically recommend the PHR series for hard-to-access industrial applications where unit repair or replacement of the power supply is not feasible.

Input/output configurations

The PHR power supply series is available in output power levels of 120W (PHR 120-F1) 150W (PHR 150-F2), 200W (PHR 200-F3) and 250W (PHR 250-F3). They employ active power factor correction (PFC) to convert a universal ac-input voltage (95V to 264Vac) to 12V, 24V, 48V or 125Vdc. The 250W unit operates from  24V, 48V or 125Vdc input options.  Other input/output configurations are available on request. Hold up time is a minimum 5ms at full load for 5% drop of output voltage for the entire input voltage range.

Active Power Factor Correction (PFC), EMI, Safety standards

All models in the PHR series employ active power factor correction, which limits input current harmonics to achieve a PFC rating of 0.97 at full load for the entire input range. The power supplies comply with EN61000-3-2 directive for low input harmonic distortion. Hold-up time is 10ms at full load for 5% drop of output voltage at nominal input.

They have filtering on the input and output for low noise. The input meets EN55032 Class A with wide margins; EN55032 Class B is available on request. Efficiency at full load is typically 80%. The units comply with EN62368-1 and equivalent UL and CSA international safety standards.
