1500W, 12Vdc to 48Vdc Boost (Step-up) DC-DC Converter for Industrial Applications
The LTH 1K5-12/48-3U4 is a boost (step-up) DC-DC power supply that converts a 12Vdc input (10.5-16V operating range) to a stable, regulated 48Vdc at 30A. This unit is designed for 1500W loads. Two or more units may be parallel connected for higher output power.
This DC-DC converter is suitable for a broad range of 12Vdc/48dc industrial applications. For instance, it may be used in automotive systems, boosting 12V vehicle battery voltage to power 48Vdc auxiliary systems. Other typical applications include solar systems and telecommunications systems.
The LTH 1K5-12/48-3U4 boost converter is built with four LTH 65F internal modules that are connected parallel via redundancy diodes. This modular construction also provides inherent redundancy; the failure of one internal module only causes a 25% drop in output power while the unit remains operational.
The converter is designed for compliance with EN62368-1 and equivalent safety standards. Filtering on the input and output contributes to low output ripple and noise. The input meets the requirements for EN55032 Class A with wide margins. Class B is available on request. This ensures that the unit can be used in EMI sensitive environments without additional filtering.
Comprehensive electronic protection includes 1500Vdc input/output isolation, inrush current limiting, reverse polarity protection, output current limiting and short-circuit protection. Low component count, large design headroom, and the exclusive use of components with established reliability also contribute to the long operating life of the unit.
Cooling is achieved by high quality built-in fans that ensure operation over a -20°C to +50°C temperature range for full specification with no requirement for de-rating. Wider temperature ranges are available on request. The 132 x 244 x 381 mm chassis is ruggedly constructed and designed to withstand high levels of shock and vibration to IEC 61373 Cat 1 A&B. Conformal coating provides protection against humidity and airborne contaminants.
