EN50155 compliant, railway DC-DC converters offer 750Vdc (525V–975Vdc) input voltage, the traction voltage required for trams, metros, light rail vehicles and mining locomotives
The HVI 500R-FX series is a 500W addition to our line of high input voltage railway DC-DC converters. The units meets the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on rolling stock. They accept 750Vdc input voltage (525V – 975Vdc range), which is the traction voltage typically required for mass transit vehicles such as trams, metros and light rail, and for mining locomotives.
The standard series delivers 24Vdc, 36Vdc, 48Vdc, 110Vdc or custom output voltages. An optional built-in redundancy diode would allow for a number of units to be connected in parallel to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy.
Heavy ruggedizing and conformal coating provide immunity to shock, vibration, humidity and moisture. The HVI 500R is designed to meet IEC 61373 Categories 1 A & B shock and vibration standards. Cooled by conduction and natural air convection, the converters are rated for operation over a -25°C to 55°C temperature range for full specification. Wider temperature ranges also available.
The HVI 500R railway converters have heavy filtering on the input and output, and comply with EN50121-3-2. They also meet EN61000-4-2, EN61000-4-3, EN61000-4-4 and EN61000-4-6. The design is verified for 5600Vdc input to output isolation.Other protection features include 4300Vdc input-output isolation, reverse polarity protection, overload protection, thermal protection and current limiting.
