600W high input voltage railway DC-DC converters for mass transit vehicles accept 750Vdc (525V to 975Vdc range)

750Vdc high input voltage railway DC-DC converters offer traction voltage required for trams, metros, light rail vehicles, mining locomotives and trolley buses.

750Vdc high input voltage railway DC-DC converters offer traction voltage required for trams, metros, light rail vehicles, mining locomotives and trolley buses.

New low profile railway converter offers wide -25°C to +70°C operating temperature range

The HVI 600FR-F7W high input voltage railway DC-DC converter uses field proven design topology to generate 600W output power. The unit delivers a single output of 24Vdc. It accepts 750Vdc input (525V to 975Vdc range) and is suitable for traction control systems and other applications on mass transit vehicles including trams, metros and light rail and mining locomotives. It is also suitable for running auxiliary equipment on trolleybuses. An optional built-in redundancy diode allows for a number of units to be connected in parallel to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy. The output separation diode allows for battery charging applications. It meets the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock.

Heavy filtering on the input and output ensures that the unit complies with EN50121-3-2. It meets EN61000-4-2 (ESD), EN61000-4-3 (RF Immunity), EN61000-4-4 (Fast Transients), and EN61000-4-6 (Conducted Immunity). The design is verified for 5600Vdc input to output isolation. Other protection features include 4300Vdc input-output isolation, reverse polarity protection, overload protection, thermal protection and current limiting.

The HVI 600FR-F7W is rated for operation over a -25°C to 70°C temperature range for full specification. Cooling is provided by three high quality built-in fans. All heat generating components are installed on aluminium heatsink blocks which are thermally connected to the internal heatsink plate. This contributes to mechanical robustness of the units. Heavy ruggedizing ensures immunity to high levels of shock and vibration. The internal boards are conformal coated for protection from moisture and airborne contaminants. The compact, low profile design in an F7W chassis measures 280 x 73 x 356 mm (11” x 2.9” x 14”) W x H x D.
