400W fully encapsulated units are entirely potted with a thermally conductive MIL-grade silicon rubber compound to ensure immunity to shock, vibration, humidity and environmental contaminants.
The PDC 400-P400 series of fully encapsulated DC-DC converters use field-proven topology to deliver up to 400W output power. The power converters deliver a single regulated output of 12Vdc, 24Vdc, 48Vdc or 125Vdc. They accept input voltages of 24Vdc (21V-30Vdc), 48Vdc (42-60Vdc), 72Vdc (42-110Vdc) or 125Vdc (95-140Vdc). Custom input/output voltages are available on request. Regulation is better than 1% from no load to full load across all line and load conditions. Efficiency is a minimum of 80% at full load.
Encapsulation, cooling, temperature range
The PDC 400-P400 DC-DC converters are fully encapsulated with a thermally conductive MIL-grade silicon rubber compound with a UL94V-0 flammability rating. This ensures protection from high levels of shock and vibration, moisture and environmental contaminants. Cooling by conduction via base plate to the customer heatsink or chassis. The cold plate temperature range is -40°C to +70°C for full specification (no derating). Please note: if a suitable heat-sinking surface is not available, we should consider an alternative conduction/convection cooled design.
Heavy-duty application environments
The units are suitable for operation in power generation, transmission and distribution systems, transportation, oil and gas, mining, industrial automation, and other harsh environments.
EMI, safety standards and electronic protection
Filtering on the input and output contributes to low output ripple and noise. The input meets EN55032 Class A with wide margins; Class B is available on request. The converters comply with EN62368-1 and equivalent UL and CSA international safety standards. Comprehensive electronic protection includes 2250Vdc I/O isolation, inrush current limiting, rectangular current limiting with short-circuit protection on the output, thermal self-resetting shutdown and output over-voltage protection by double regulator loop completely stable and independent of main loop.
